Mariano “Mario” Silveira, of Rumford, Dies at 57

Mariano “Mario” Silveira, 57, of Sheridan Ave., Rumford, passed away at home surrounded by his family, Thursday, November 18, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of Anna (Ferreira) Silveira.

Born February 2, 1964, in Fenais da Luz, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Serafim and Guilhermina da Encarncao (Tavares) Silveira; and the son-in-law of Maria Henriques of East Providence.

Mario was a baker for Dunkin Donuts for more than 40 years. He will be remembered for his hardworking and easy-going ways and fun-loving demeanor. He was a big kid at heart.

To Mario his family meant everything, but nothing brought him greater happiness than his two grandsons.

In addition to his wife of 35 years, he leaves his devoted children, his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Wendy Silveira of East Providence and his daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Shawn Patterson of Burrillville; his grandsons, Austin and Zachary Silveira, who he adored; his devoted brothers, Rev. Eduino Silveira of California and Juvenal (his wife Ana) Silveira of Providence; and his sister Isaura (her husband Fernando) of East Providence; and by many devoted nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was also grampy to his four-legged grandpup, Alejandro.

His funeral will begin Monday, November 22, at 8 am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 No. Carpenter St., East Providence.

Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon, from 2 pm until 5 pm in the funeral home.

Memorial donations are greatly appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
