Maria dos Anjos (Teixeira Furtado) Medeiros Dies at 85

Maria dos Anjos (Teixeira Furtado) Medeiros, 85, of Wood Street, passed away on December 18, 2021 at her home. She was the wife of Jose Medeiros.  

Born in Cabouco, Sao Miguel, she was the daughter of the late Joao Furtado and Rosalina Teixeira.  She is survived by her 6 children: Jose Lopes (Goreti) Medeiros of Portugal; Maria Isabel (Joao) Soares of Warren; Joao Manuel (Laura) Medeiros of Bristol; Lucia (Manuel) Viveiros of East Providence; Luis (Rita) Medeiros of Bristol;  Gorete (Luis) Mendes of Bristol; grandchildren: Marlene, Rafael, Milton, Renata, Elizabeth, Christina, Pedro, Tiago, Matthew, Mack, Veronica, Cynthia, David, Kevin, Sabrina, Kimberly, Justin and great-grandchildren: Laura, Afonso, Laurenco, Diogo, Mary Elizabeth, Sofia, Mattthew Jr. Aela and Kennedy.

Maria was educated in Portugal and employed as a machine operator for Magic Carpet as well as American Tourister before retiring.

Her funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 21st, 9:30 am from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, Bristol with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 am at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Calling hours are Monday 3-6 pm.
