Leslie A. (Taylor) Souza, of Cumberland, Dies at 66

Souza, Leslie A. (Taylor), 66, of Cumberland passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 after a long history of illness. She was the wife of David A. Souza and they had been married for the past 34 years.

Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Anne (Medeiros) Taylor. She resided in Cumberland most recently, but previously resided in Pawtucket.

Prior to her illness, she was a cashier at the former Almacs in North Dartmouth, MA. She was also a licensing technician for Cumberland Licensing Corporation where she retired from. Leslie volunteered her time at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for 8 years.

Leslie loved God, and it was her favorite topic of conversation. She was a passionate and dedicated Boston Red Sox fan. She enjoyed playing cards, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband, she leaves her daughter Dawn Mello of Sarasota, FL; her two grandchildren, Britny Camerer and her husband Chris of Altamonte Springs FL, and Jeramy Theriault of Rock Hill, SC; her two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ember; her siblings, Maureen Valois and her husband Moe of Ellenton, FL, Bruce Taylor and his wife Joan of Acushnet, MA, Kevin Taylor of New Bedford, MA, Kathy Curtiss of Southboro, MA, Marty Taylor and his wife Lynn of Lakeville, MA, and Brian Taylor of Pawtucket, RI; her brother-in-law, Michael Souza of New Bedford, MA as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in Christ, and many close friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Francisco and Annie (Hatch) Medeiros, paternal grandparents Hiram and Annie (McGuire) Taylor; and her mother-in-law, Mary J. (Gryss) Souza.

A memorial service in celebration of her life will be on Saturday, December 11th at 10 am in the Greater Rhode Island Baptist Temple, 671 Greenville Ave, Johnston, RI 02919.

Services will also be available online.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Greater Rhode Island Baptist Temple, 671 Greenville Ave, Johnston, RI 02919, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association, or to the American Lung Association.
