Joshua Ross Kenyon, born in Providence, RI during the waning days of the Summer of Love, passed suddenly and all too soon in Atlanta, GA, on March 27 at the age of 55.

A 1985 graduate of Moses Brown School, Josh continued his education when he was awarded an English Speaking Union scholarship and thrived at the Felsted School, Dunmow, Essex, England, completing his A levels and from where he also traveled throughout Europe and beyond. Josh was eagerly anticipating attending a reunion with his Felsted friends in London this fall.

Josh graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1989 with a triple major before earning a JD degree from Pepperdine University in 1992. After working in private practice and serving in local government, he established a successful legal recruiting business, placing attorneys, paralegals, and other support staff with local, national and international law firms since 2000.

Josh had a heart for the less fortunate and sought no credit for the myriad gifts he gave of himself.  From an early age, Josh embraced politics and volunteered, or worked for, candidates who reflected his ideals and captured his imagination. Curious, engaging, energetic and articulate, he inspired so many with his compassion, kindness, lively intelligence, sense of humor, and friendship. He loved to travel and had a unique ability for making lifelong friends wherever he went.

Josh is survived by his devoted wife, Hope Barbian Kenyon of Brookhaven, GA, his daughters, Eliza Skye and Morgan Olivia Kenyon of Los Angeles, CA, his parents, Jeffrey and Beryl Kenyon of Little Compton, RI, his brother, Zachariah “Zach” (India) Kenyon of Little Compton, RI, and his nieces, Nina Kenyon of San Francisco, CA, Lillianna Kenyon of Providence, RI, and Abigail Kenyon, of Burlington, VT.  He is also survived by his ex-wife, Michelle Morgan Kenyon of Carrollton, TX (mother of Morgan and Eliza), and countless friends.

A funeral service will take place at Skyland United Methodist Church in Brookhaven, GA, on April 22 at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Rhode Island this fall.

From Josh’s earliest childhood, his home was a beacon of light for any and all homeless animals.  In memory of Josh’s endless love for rescue cats and dogs, kindly consider a donation to the Lawrence County Humane Society, PO Box 1331, Louisa, KY 41230.
