Josephine M. "Pina" (Rescio) Duva, of “Shore Acres” North Kingstown, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony D. Duva, MD. Born in Francavilla Fontana, Brindisi Italy, she was the daughter of the late Mario and Antonietta (Catanzarro) Rescio.

Pina was an elementary school teacher in Italy before coming to the U.S. Pina was the beloved mother of Adrienne Ronci (predeceased), Gary G. Duva of Cranston, Audrey Duva-Frissora of Wenham, MA, and Anthony W. Duva of North Attleboro, MA.  She leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren, Gina Ronci, William Ronci, Jr., Katie Souza, Alessandra Frissora-Poston, Conner Duva, Giuliana Frissora, Nicholas Duva, Gabrielle Duva, and Sophia Duva. She also leaves behind seven adored great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her brother, Giorgio Rescio of Milan, Italy, and was predeceased by her brother, Arcangelo Rescio, and her sister, Giuliana Rescio.

Pina was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a kind, devoted friend to many. She was a gifted pianist and artist. She was her deceased husband’s savvy business partner and life-long friend. She adored fine cuisine and was known for her amazing homemade pasta dishes… tortellini, lasagna Bolognese. She was the glue that held her family together. She became an avid bridge player in her latter years. Her sense of humor never waned. She remained an elegant, composed woman to the end. Pina was a reservoir of hope, strength, commitment, and love for all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday, July 26th at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston at 11 a.m. 

Burial will be private. 

Visiting hours are Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Josephine M. Duva.
