John Lawrence Sullivan, Passes at 75
Monday, October 25, 2021
John L. Sullivan, 75, beloved brother, uncle and friend died peacefully at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late James S. and Marie ( Cassels ) Sullivan, twin brother of the late Robert Sullivan and brother of the late James P. Sullivan.
A collector of friends (real and fuzzy), John shared his joy for life and love of sports, music and traditions. Since moving to Westerly 36 years ago, John enjoyed traveling with his brother and sister-in-law, attending the Olean Center, playing Special Olympics Golf, walking around Avondale and visiting neighbors. He was a member of the St. Clare Parish family. For the past three years, he resided at the Royal Westerly where there were “no strangers, only friends he hadn’t yet met.” Prior to 2020 safety protocols, he enthusiastically participated in activities, especially Friday music and happy hours. John’s family thanks all those who cared for John.
John will be missed by his sister-in-law Janet Sullivan, his nieces and nephews: Colleen Sullivan and her husband Jack Cannon, Maureen Donaghey and her husband Sean, James P. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Caroline, Sean S. Sullivan and his wife Sheila, Sean E. Sullivan and Kerry Sullivan and her husband Chris Brothwell. He was a fun and loving great uncle to Kathleen Cannon, Mary Kate and Brendan Donaghey, Peter, Michael, Anna, Maggie, Timothy, Rowan, and Colin Sullivan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11 am at St. Pius X, 45 Elm Street, Westerly RI. John’s family requests that all wear masks.
Burial will be private.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
