Isaura “Hazel” Martins, of Cumberland, Passes at 98

Isaura "Hazel" Martins, 98, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Martins.

Born in Penalva do Castelo Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Josefa (de Jesus) Fernandes. Hazel came to this country in 1930, settling in Central Falls and then Cumberland.

Hazel was an avid reader. She loved watching movies and listening to music, especially by her son David. But most of all Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was employed by Hindley Manufacturing, Cumberland for many years, as well as Blackstone Caterers, Central Falls.

She is survived by her children; David Martins and his wife Ellen of Westford, MA; Dean Martins and his wife Trish of Portsmouth, RI; and Paul Martins and his wife Rona of Redondo Beach, CA. Her five grandchildren; Eric Martins, Adrian Martins, Jillian McGrath, Anthony Martins, and Dan McGrath.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Hazel's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Sunday from 3 pm to 6 pm and continuing on Monday at 9 am in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland.

Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Beacon Palliative Care, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.
