Eleanor “Ellie” M. Reilly, Worked at NE Telephone for 45 Years, Dies at 98

Ellie was born in Providence in 1925 of Irish parentage. Her father Bernard was from Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland. Her mother Julia Dorgan Frain was born of Irish parentage in Yorkshire, England.

 

She grew up in Providence, graduated from Tyler School and then graduated from Saint Xavier Academy. Eleanor then went on to work at NET&T/AT&T for more than 45 years she started as a telephone operator and then worked in varied offices as an administrative assistant. She was very proud of being part of the operation at Quonset during WWII providing free phone calls to servicemen who were leaving for war.

Ellie grew up with her family in Providence, later she and her sister Marie moved to Warwick, RI.

 

Ellie loved to travel with her sister Marie. Together they visited many states and countries. Their most favorite place to travel to was their homestead in Mohill, Ireland, where they would visit with far-away family.

 

Ellie was very active at the Pilgrim Senior Center and with the "Gaspee Seniors." Before moving to assisted living, she was a Communicant at St Rose of Lima Church, Warwick.

 

Ellie was predeceased by her brothers James and Hubert and her sisters Marie, Julia Grady and Catherine Erickson. She was everybody's favorite Aunt, Ellie had 5 nieces; Sheila Reynolds-Boothroyd, Patricia Reilly, Catherine Grady, Ann Miller, Ellen Reilly and 6 nephews; Edward Grady Jr., Michael Reilly, Robert Grady, William Grady, James Reilly, and the late David Grady. She also had many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

 

Her visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick; followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great, 360 Cowesett Rd., Warwick. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
