Elda M. (Lopez) Castillo, of North Providence, Dies at 82

Elda M. (Lopez) Castillo, 82, of North Providence, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021. She was the wife of Jorge Castillo. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Nicasio “Casio” Lopez and Juana “Mita” (Sanchez) Lopez.

Elda worked for various jewelry manufacturers for many years before retiring. A devout and faithful Christian, she was a lifelong member of the Pentecostal Church where she faithfully served for many years.

A loving and devoted mother, she is survived by her cherished daughter, Elda Yadira Tourigny, her son-in-law Raymond and her four step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her four brothers, Eliezer, Hiram, Jose (Pepe), and Neftali (Titi) Lopez, and her two sisters, Elsa Migdalia and Nydia Rivera. She was the sister of the late Tony Israel, Nancy and Noemi Lopez, Ofelia Guerra, Heriberto and Eliud Lopez, and Carmen Iris Rivera.

Elda was a feisty, fiery, funny, wise woman and a loving, caring, and devoted daughter, mother, sister, and friend. She had a passion to help the less fortunate, especially the widow and the orphan. Her daughter and son-in-law fondly remember her as a songstress whose beautiful voice filled their home with song and who was often heard to shout passionately at the television while watching her favorite television series “Caso Cerrado” on Telemundo in the evenings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Prayer Service in Celebration of Elda’s Life on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence.

Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston.
