Dorothy E. (Gravell) McLaughlin, of Warwick, Dies at 85

McLaughlin, Dorothy E., (Gravell) of Warwick, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on December 12, 2021.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She was married to Gilbert H. McLaughlin, Jr., Chief, PFD (Ret.) for 60 years and the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Ennis) Gravell.  Her elegance and love of family will be her lasting legacy.

Besides her husband, she leaves two children, Patricia A. McLaughlin of Barrington and James G. McLaughlin and his wife Carol of Warwick; a grandson, Ryan McLaughlin of Warwick; a sister, Shirley Quirk of Narragansett and a brother-in-law, Oliver McLaughlin and his wife Pat of Warwick.  She also leaves a close family friend, John D’Amico, and four nephews: John Quirk of Cranston, Robert Quirk of Narragansett, Timothy McLaughlin of Warwick, and Sean McLaughlin of E. Northport, NY.

She was employed at both the Narragansett Electric Company and Sears Roebuck & Company.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:00 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Masks are required.

Interment will be private.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
