Debra Ann Howson, of Westerly, Passes at 60

Debra Ann Howson, 60, of Westerly, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Barbara M. (Picard) Howson of Flagler Beach, FL, and the late John S. Howson.

Debra received her Doctorate from the State University of New York and went on to serve as an Attorney. Her work in Labor Law saw her as a constant advocate for the underserved. She lived in many cities and states throughout her life. Wherever Debra landed, she surrounded herself with artwork, plants, and herbs. She had many passions, from astrology to animal rights to cooking to politics.

During her final years, Debra found joy while working with the Westerly Library and volunteering for the League of Women Voters. Her family and friends will deeply miss her.

In addition to her loving mother Barbara, she is survived by her beloved siblings, Michael J. Howson of Wilton Manor, FL and Lori A. Aliano of Rock Hill, SC, her niece, Stephanie Aliano, and her nephew, Eric Aliano.

She was the devoted mother of the late Isaiah Howson.

Her Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 12, 2021, at The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 am - 1 pm.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Westerly Library and Wilcox Park. You can contact the assistant director [email protected] to donate in Debra's name.
