Carol Marie Christopher Dies at 83
Born on December 6, 1938, Carol was the daughter of Fred and Catherine Christopher. She is survived by her sister, Joanne Gray of Glastonbury, CT, and her brother, Robert Christopher of Coventry, RI, five nieces: Susan Brownlie, Sandy Della Sala, Cindy Farrow, Lisa Curtin, and Laura Wixted, two nephews: Chris Gray and Brendan Christopher, fourteen great-nieces and nephews, and eleven great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Catherine Christopher, her brothers Richard and David Christopher, her nephews Jimmy Gray and Danny Christopher, and her great-niece, Michelle Gray.
After graduating from Lasell Junior College in Auburndale, MA, she worked as an Executive Assistant in both the private and public sectors, until she retired from the University of Colorado in 2004. She learned to love skiing on the slopes of Vermont and then spent many hours downhill on the slopes of Colorado, as both ski enthusiast and ski instructor. One of her greatest pleasures was teaching children with disabilities how to ski, as was evident in her long-time volunteer work with the NSCD (National Sports Center for the Disabled) and with the Children's Hospital Colorado ARCH (Adaptive Recreation for Childhood Health).
Carol also loved to travel, and she lived in a variety of places, including Boston, MA, Washington D.C., Seattle, WA, Santa Barbara, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, Aspen, CO, and her beloved Denver, CO, where she resided for almost 50 years, enjoying deep and long-lasting friendships. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and caregivers, many of whom were privileged to witness her strength and grace during the last few difficult years of her otherwise fun and zesty life.
