Army Veteran, Louis Charles Abbenante, Sr., of Cranston, Passes at 88

Louis Charles Abbenante, Sr., of Dyer Ave., Cranston, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Providence. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Irene C. (Folco) Abbenante.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Louis Abbenante and Sadie G. (Giampietro) Cormier.

Louis was an accountant for the Providence Community Action Center and Providence Head Start Program, and was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.

He was the devoted father of Louise M. Abbenante and Louis C. Abbenante, Jr. and his wife Robin all of Cranston, and the late Cheryl A. Goetz and Darlene Goetz; and loving grandfather of Nicole Goetz, Celeste Ranaldi, Morgan Abbenante, Gennaro Pariseau, Ella Abbenante and the late Corey A. Lane.

His funeral service and inurnment with military honors at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to RI Veterans Home Fund, 480 Metacom Ave., Bristol, RI 02809.
