Army Veteran, Hugh E. Gillett, of Smithfield, Dies at 87

Hugh E. Gillett, 87, of Smithfield and formerly of Cumberland, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Desiderato) Gillett. They were happily married for 30 years. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Rev. W. Edwin and Hope (Cross) Gillett.

Hugh was an army veteran of the Korean War. He was a successful sales executive during his career in various industries.
 
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Greg Gillett and his wife, Andrea, and Grant Gillett. He also leaves his grandchildren, Cameron, Adam, and Callie Gillett. He was the brother of the late Nancy Tillung.
 
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, January 10th at 10 am in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland.
 
Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

Visitation Monday from 8:30 am – 9:30 am, prior to the Mass in the O’Neill Funeral Home.
 
Due to current circumstances, all guests are requested to wear a mask.
