Army National Guard Veteran, Alfred L. Charette, Jr., Passes Away at 79

Alfred L. Charette, Jr., 79, passed away July 25, 2021, at his home in Township 28, Maine.

He was born February 3, 1942, in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Alfred L. and Esther (Erickson) Charette, Sr.

Alfred graduated from East Providence, Rhode Island High School, and attended Bryant College, Providence.

He served in the US Army National Guard, enlisting in Warwick, Rhode Island.

He then became employed at First National Bank of Attleboro, Massachusetts; and later with First Bristol County National Bank. In 1972, he moved to Maine and became employed with St. Regis Paper Company as a forester in 1976. He worked for the company for 29 years retiring in 1998 from Champion International. That same year, he was hired as an independent contractor by International Paper, until his full retirement in 2005.

Alfred was a life member of the National Rifle Association; a former member of the Seekonk Volunteer Fire Department, Seekonk, Massachusetts, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3177, of Brewer.

Surviving, are one brother, Robert J. Charette of Lehigh Acres, Florida; a niece, nephew, and cousin. In addition to his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his significant other, Bev Huber in May 2009.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.

Interment will be on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 8:30 am in St. Ann's Cemetery, Chapel, Cranston, Rhode Island.
