Alda Maria (Melo) Pereira, of East Providence, Dies at 83

Alda Maria (Melo) Pereira, 83, of East Providence, and formerly of Sheldon Street, Providence passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Linn Health Care Center.

She was the wife of the late Dinis Pereira.

Alda was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Silvano Oliveira Melo and Maria De Lurdes (Furtado) Melo.

Alda was a homemaker.

She is survived by her children David Pereira, Marie Pereira and Jennifer Pereira. She was the sister of Maria Lurdes Oliveira Sousa of Quebec, Canada, Juanna Martini of Waterbury, Ct., and Joao Oliveira of Providence. Alda is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuela Oliveira, Cesinando Melo, Joseph Oliveira and Mary Joseph Oliveira. Alda was the mother of the late Joseph Pereira.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Monday, December 13, 2021 from 9:00 – 9:55 am in the Church, prior to mass.
