NEW: Over $2 Million in Federal Grants for Health in Rhode Island

On the eve of a potential federal shutdown, Congressman Cicilline announces important federal grants for RI.
Miriam Hospital, Butler Hospital, Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Department of Health, and Brown University will receive a combined $2,254,929 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, announced U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) today.
"These funds will not only improve the health of Rhode Islanders but will also help stimulate Rhode Island's economy," Cicilline said.

The breakdown of awards is as follows:
Brown University: $1,133,158 for Center for Cancel Signaling Networks, issued by National Center for Research Resources
Butler Hospital: $215,534 for Mental Health Research Related to Childhood Maltreatment, issued by the National Institute of Mental Health
Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island: $176,584 to Promote Cancer Screening Among Latino Men, issued by the National Cancer Institute
Miriam Hospital: $440,345 for Acceptance Based Behavioral Intervention for Weight Loss: A Randomized Trial, issued by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases
Rhode Island Department of Health: $288,308 for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention, issued by the Health Resources and Services Administration Division of Grants Management Options.
