“No one is fighting harder for well-paying jobs, workers’ rights, and affordable health care than David Cicilline,” said UFCW Local 328 Secretary-Treasurer Jim Riley. “The UFCW’s scorecard demonstrates that, without exception, David has consistently stood up for Rhode Island’s working families in Washington.”

The UFCW Congressional scorecard is issued each year to assess the votes cast by Members of Congress on a number of issues important to workers. This year, members of the House of Representatives received grades that ranged from A to F, depending on where they stood on seven different issues important to working families. Cicilline earned an "A" rating for consistently casting votes to help hardworking Rhode Islanders, including his support for an extension of the Trade Adjustment Act, as well as his opposition to the House Republicans’ “Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act.”

“After working hard their entire lives, too many of our friends and neighbors in Rhode Island are still finding it difficult to support themselves or their families,” said Cicilline. “They need Congress to set aside partisanship and enact commonsense bills to get our country back on the right track, and I am proud to share the UFCW’s commitment to making sure this happens.”

Local 328 was first established in January 1937 to represent the interests of butchers and meat cutters in Rhode Island. The UFCW, which was formed in 1979 following a merger between unions representing retail clerks and meat cutters, currently represents 1.4 million members across the United States. According to its website, Local 328 is the largest local union in Southeastern New England.
