Man Hospitalized After Hammer Attack in Providence

A man was hospitalized after being attacked on Thursday by a man with a hammer in Providence.
The incident happened at Open Doors, a non-profit that houses formerly incarcerated individuals.

According to police, they encountered the victim — a male in his early 60s — bleeding severely from a wound to his head.
The victim was taken by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.
Witnesses told police that they saw the victim being pursued by another male with a hammer in his hand.
Police say that a bloody hammer was located on the scene.
A suspect is in custody, according to police.
