Man Carjacked at Gunpoint on East Side

A man told police he was carjacked — at gunpoint — on the East Side of Providence on Wednesday night. 

About Incident 

The victim — a male in his 30s — went to Central Station early Thursday morning to report the crime

He told police he had been driving on Gano Street shortly after 9 PM on Wednesday night, when a man flagged him down. 

According to the victim, when he pulled over, the man pointed a gun at him and told him to park the vehicle in a parking lot. 

The victim told police that when he put the vehicle in park, that he ran out and the suspect got in the driver's seat and drove off.

The victim's vehicle is a grey Toyota Tacoma.

At that point, the victim said he ordered an Uber to take him to his residence in Pawtucket. 

A description of the vehicle was provided to police; detectives are currently investigating.
