Is This Disney Sequel the Next Big Movie Being Filmed in RI?

The “DisInsider” (short for “Disney Insider”) is reporting that Hocus-Pocus 2 will be filmed in Los Angeles, Connecticut — and Rhode Island.
“According to a listing in Production Weekly, the highly-anticipated sequel begin filming on October 5 under the working title 'Candles,'" DisInsider reported. “The project is expected to film in multiple locations including Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Los Angeles.”
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST“Hocus Pocus 2 will see the return of all three Sanderson sisters, with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprising their roles as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary, respectively,” they continued. “This last week, Thora Birch also teased her involvement in the project. The script has been written by Jen D’Angelo of Workaholics fame.”
GoLocal spoke with Yosefa Kornwitz, who manages short term Airbnb rentals through her Providence-based company Blue Fox Property Solutions, who said she was contacted about finding housing for Parker — and the crew — in Rhode Island.
“I help homeowners turn their properties into short term rentals and also do Airbnb consulting,” said Kornwitz. “A realtor — I don’t want to say his name — asked me if I knew any short-term rentals for SJP and the film crew.”
SJP, of course, being Sarah Jessica Parker.
Steve Feinberg with the RI Film Office did not respond to inquiry at time of publication.

Last week, GoLocal reported that actors Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were spotted having lunch in Rhode Island.
Sedgwick confirmed to NY1 that she is in the Ocean State for a feature film — also starring her husband, Bacon.
