In just the past few years travel options have exploded — ferries, ride-sharing, e-bike rentals, and scooters — all transforming the cost to get across Providence or getting to Ireland.
All locations have not stuck. Norwegian Air, who has helped to transform the airport by flying direct to Europe, did offer and then canceled direct flights to Bergen, Norway just as travelers learned of the flights.
Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation says, “Each new route strengthens Rhode Island’s economy and provides greater and more economical travel options for Rhode Island.”
Today, depending on the season, you can fly direct to Las Vegas, Toronto, Nashville, Denver, Dublin, and Santo Domingo. T.F. Green has transformed from just offering a few direct flights on Southwest to Florida.
Pricing Can Be Ever-Changing
As options have grown prices have changed. Introductory costs have been jacked up. Uber’s red Jump bikes that adorn the Providence streets increased some prices by as much as 400% recently. Scooters like Lime and Bird have yet to jack up their prices.
Some of the price differences seem impossible — flights to Europe for as low as $123 and bike rentals for $9 for 30 minutes -- potholes included.
