Cicilline To Unveil “Make it in America Block Grant” Tuesday

Freshman Congressman David Cicilline is set to release the first draft of his “Make it in America Block Grant” Tuesday at his second local advisory group meeting, to be held in Pawtucket.
The block grant was something Cicilline constantly referred to during a heated battle for Congress last fall. It will be his first piece of legislation and he hopes to introduce the bill next month.
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTAccording to a press release issued by Cicilline spokeswoman Jessica Kershaw, the “Make it in America Block Grant” would “provide resources to retool existing small-size manufacturers, train employees to get our local economy moving again, and help put people in our district and state on a path toward a sustainable future.”
Tuesday’s meeting will feature conversation with Cicilline's Manufacturing and Trade Policy Advisory Committee, a group of 20 Rhode Islanders. Cicilline is expected to unveil his legislation and ask the committee for input before putting the final touches on the bill.
The Congressman will also take part in a discussion with committee members regarding their ideas for additional legislation and their concerns around the challenges they are currently facing.
The press release said Cicilline plans to hold number of advisory committing meetings in the coming months focus on different issues that impact Rhode Island in attempt to make sure “these interests and concerns are heard in Washington D.C.” Kershaw said more information about the meetings will be released as they are scheduled.
