Body Found in River in Providence

A body of a deceased male was found in the City of Providence on Wednesday. 

Police say they do not believe the death to be suspicious at this time.

Shortly before 5 PM, police responded to Delaine Street in Olneyville for a possible possible body in the river. 

Police said that after going to the rear courtyard of the apartment building, a male was observed floating face down in the Woonasquatucket River. 

It was unclear how long the male had been there, say police. 

The fire department arrived at the scene and were able to retrieve the body from the water.

Police say that they were able to make contact with the next of kin and identified him as 50 year old male 

The Medical Examiner took custody of the body.
