Another Brutal Night in Providence, Child and Two Adults Stabbed

A brutal stabbing took place in Providence Tuesday night.
Providence Police told GoLocal an 8-year-old child, a woman in her 70s, and a man in his 50s were stabbed.
The attack took place at a home on Reynolds Avenue in South Providence, and a man has been arrested.

Woman Shot
Shortly after 1 AM on Tuesday morning, police responded to March Street off of Douglas Avenue for a report of shots fired.
A woman on the scene told police she and another woman had been sitting inside a car when a sedan with tinted windows pulled up and open fired.
When the police arrived, they encountered one woman who was shot; the victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
March Street is in the Chad Brown area. It is the same street in which a 15-year-old was shot and killed less than two weeks ago.
Dog Shot
According to police, shortly before 10 PM on Monday, they were called to Bodell Avenue off of Hartford Avenue or a report of shots fired.
Police said they met with a male in his 40s who told them a friend had called him to let him know his dog — a Chihuahua — had been struck with bullet.
The dog, which was bleeding, was taken by its owner to a veterinarian's emergency room for treatment.
These incidents come at a time when Providence Police are significantly understaffed. Colonel Oscar Perez told GoLocal that the department's staffing level is 419 -- more than 70 under full staffing.
As GoLocal recently reported, Providence police have found themselves outnumbered in a number of recent incidents across the city.
