Warwick FOP Says Police Are Unfairly “Under Attack” - Calls Efforts to Defund Police “Ignorant”
Monday, June 08, 2020
The Warwick Fraternal Order Order of Police issued a statement on Sunday that condemned the officer who took the life of George Floyd -- and called those seeking to defund the police as ignorant.
The FOP criticized the action of the officer Derek Chauvin who caused the death of Floyd and “any other instances of police misconduct,” but went off to blister the criticism of all police officers.
“We believe that such misconduct should be and will be dealt with accordingly, and we understand the pain and anger it has caused," said the FOP.

“These attacks on police officers have increased at a troubling rate, in the form of violent assaults (i.e. rioting and attacks which have injured many officers all over our nation), verbal and social insults,” wrote the FOP.
The specifically called out the action by Allie’s Donuts’ “despicable insults of police officers and members of the military.”
The police union organization also cited the “abandonment from many of our political leaders -- i.e. the outrageous movement to ‘defund’ police departments. These are plain and simple acts of outright ignorance, which have placed the lives of all police officers in danger, and which supported would lead to lawlessness.”
“Perhaps as troubling as any of these attacks is the revolting opportunistic anti-police grandstanding being spewed by many of our local, state, and federal political leaders. The ‘defund police’ movement and the blind rush to condemn all police officers must cease,” said the FOP.
