Langevin Announces Support to Remove QAnon Linked Rep. Greene from House Education Comm
Thursday, February 04, 2021
Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) Thursday announced his support for H. Res. 72, a resolution to relieve the controversial Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of her seat on the House Education and Labor Committee and Budget Committee.
She has been a supporter and QAnon and voiced support for violence against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, former President Barack Obama and other Democratic elected officials.
Langevin issued the following statement:
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST“Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s reprehensible behavior will undermine the critical work of the House Committees on the Budget and on Education and Labor. Her violent rhetoric, incendiary approach, and peddling of conspiracy theories about tragedies like the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, are inexcusable.
“Representative Greene has also endorsed threats against her fellow Congressmembers, a truly extraordinary breach of democratic norms and the kind of rhetoric that led to the devastating attack on the Capitol last month. I wish my Republican colleagues had shown the courage to reject QAnon and similar conspiracies and taken action to police their own membership.
“However, as Republicans continue to refuse to hold Representative Taylor Greene accountable and fail to condemn the misinformation that has so polluted our discourse, I will vote to strip Representative Greene of her committee assignments and make clear that threats and lies in the interest of political expediency cannot be rewarded.”
