Korean Peninsula expert Dr. Terence Roehrig at the Naval War College in Newport appeared on GoLocal LIVE where he spoke to the latest in U.S. - North Korean relations, ahead of the scheduled meeting between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un in Singapore.
"I would caution viewers that they manage expectations," said Roehrig. "While this is all good, and I am supportive of dialogue to reduce tensions, and bring some greater degree of peace and stability to the peninsula, particularly from where we were, we are a long way from getting to a denuclearized North Korea."
Roehrig spoke to the conditions that lead up to the newly forged relations between North and South Korea, the implications of the release of U.S. prisoners this past week, why Singapore was "on his short list" for where the scheduled meeting would take place -- and what to watch for if it does.
