Eric St. Peter, RISPCA

Returning for its 9th year on January 26, 2019, the Taste of The East Bay allows animal lovers to savor & sip local food and drink all while helping animals in need.

Eric St. Peter with the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) visited GoLocal LIVE to give us a sneak peek of what we can expect this year from the event.

This years event will be held at Hope & Main in Warren.

Local restaurants from the East Bay will offer signature “bites” of their specialties paired with fine wines and beers from Grapes & Grains of Barrington, RI. Socialize and relax among animal lovers for an afternoon filled with some of the best food and drink the East Bay has to offer.

General Admission tickets are $25 and VIP tickets are $40 (which include 5:00 PM early admission, a cooking demonstration from a local chef, and a signature event wine glass.) All proceeds from The Taste of the East Bay will benefit the Rhode Island SPCA.

The discussion on GoLocal LIVE  - WATCH ABOVE -  included an update on upcoming events, adoptable furry friends and new legislation within the state and the city of Providence.

Forrest

Forrest was found as a stray and transferred to PARL from the Providence Animal Control. Named after Forrest Grump, Forrest is a loveable and outgoing guy who is around 10 months old. Forrest is a young, energetic little man who needs a dog savvy and active family.

He is still very young and can get jumpy/mouthy when he is excited. Staff have been working with him daily on sitting and settling when interacting with people (in exchange for a treat). He has made progress, but sometimes cannot contain his excitement and gets jumpy/mouthy—so adults only for Forrest. Adopters are encouraged to continue working on his basic obedience. No cat friends for Forrest, as he has no history. Forrest appears to be bowlegged and has a little bit of trouble walking around, but that doesn’t stop Forrest from living life!

Scratchy

Scratchy is around 1 years old. He was found as a stray and transferred to us from the Providence Animal Control. Scratchy is working on his manners and can sometimes guard food and laps, because of this staff feels he would do best in a home as the only pet and with adults only. Scratchy can also be overwhelmed by larger groups of people so a small, quite family is best for him.

Moose

I am Moose! I am a 2 year old goofball. I was found as a stray in Providence so staff do not know a ton about my past. At PARL, I love to go for walks, play with toys, and sit like a handsome boy for yummy treats. I would do best in a home with older children (sometimes I am a bit excitable in greeting people) and as the only pet.

Brook

My name is Brook and I am a 9 year old female. I am a mellow and sweet lady. I like lounging around the house, but also enjoy some good scratches and cuddling. My feline-ality is "MVP". I'm a savvy cat who knows the score. I'm pretty unflappable, too. I don't mind entertaining myself, but a human companion at the other end of the couch and a nice scratch behind the ears always make my day. If you're looking for a resourceful addition to your team, think about signing this Most Valuable Pussycat.

Bean

Sometimes stray cats come to PARL with wounds of unknown origin (WUO) from their time spent on the street. We can never know exactly what happened to these cats but we are dedicated to helping them find the safety and security of a new, indoor forever home with people to protect and love them! However, it's just a bit more difficult to re-home these WUO cats since there are certain legal requirements. We need to find adopters that will agree to follow some short-term restrictions in the new home. We put together this WUO Cat FAQ Sheet with more information about the process.

Isabella

My name is Isabella and I am a 12 year old female. I am a lively senior lady looking for a retirement home that will have lots of daily activities to keep me busy. My feline-ality is "Executive". I have to say, I'm a busy cat. First, I've got to check out what's happening out the window. Next, I'll see if any closets or cupboards need looking into. And then there are my naps, can't be late for those. I can fit a little socializing into my schedule. Shall we plan on breakfast and dinner? I hope you like kibbles.

Dulce

My name is Dulce and I am an 11 year old female. I am looking for a nice quiet home where I can spend my days relaxing and getting plenty of cuddle time with my favorite person. My feline-ality is "Secret Admirer". When it comes to relationships, I'm very level-headed. I don't leap in paws first, if you know what I mean. But give me a little time, and then I'll shower you with purrs, head-butts, and plenty of lap time. In the meantime, you may not see a lot of me but I'll be thinking a lot of you!
