“It’s good to encourage young women or young men to be themselves, to be true to themselves, to not feel like they have to fit a mold in order to be successful,” Woonsocket native Emily Luther says, “I had to figure that out the hard way.”
Luther recently made it onto season 13 of the NBC’s singing competition show “The Voice” as a member of Adam Levine’s team.
This is not the first time she’s pursued a career in music, Luther says after a failed record deal she struggled with anxiety and depression.
“I disappeared from the music scene for quite some time, there was a lot of mental health issues that I was going through when I was dealing with the negativity of the music industry,” Luther says.
Now Luther says she feels confident and comfortable with who she is an artist.
In the next stage of “The Voice” competition, Luther will compete with other members of Team Adam in the Battle Rounds.
