Martin Weinstock, MD, Ph.D., Chief of Dermatology at the Providence Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a professor of dermatology in the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University joined LIVE to talk about a new study that shows promise for those at risk for a common form of skin cancer.
During a multi-year clinical trial involving over 900 military veterans at high risk for skin cancer, Weinstock says they found participants who used the medication Fluorouracil 5% had a 75-percent reduced risk of squamous cell carcinoma.
Weinstock was the lead author on the new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Dermatology.
