Tuesday, June 06, 2017
New York Times best-selling author Jane Green says she always wanted to write a story about sisters, and she always wanted sisters herself.
“The Sunshine Sisters” available June 6, is Green’s 19th book to be published. Seventeen of her books including “The Beach House," “Falling” and “Tempting Fate” are all best sellers, while she also has one cookbook, “Good Taste."
Green says, “The Sunshine Sisters” is all about three very different sisters who come back together after years apart to deal with their once Hollywood starlet mother who has fallen terminally ill.

Starting her career as a journalist, then becoming an author, Green also maintains a blog on her website. She says writing is how she figures out how she see’s the world, but maintains that writing takes discipline.
“There are days when I sit down at the typewriter and I can see these worlds unfolding in my head and it’s flowing out through my fingertips. But there are more days I sit in front of an empty screen and I think, I don’t know how to do this, I’ve got nothing,” Green says.
She explains that writing requires discipline, and that eventually creativity will be unlocked.
When discussing her books being turned into TV shows and movies, Green says seeing the characters brought to life is a “delight," and she’s “having a blast” seeing what others are dong with “her people, her friends."
Green says Lifetime Television bought the rights to “Tempting Fate” and she just read a script for it.
Green will be speaking at An Unlikely Story Bookstore and cafe on June 9.
