LIVE: 6 Tips To Organize Toys Before The Holidays

The holidays are almost here and it’s time to take inventory of your kid's toys, games, and books.
Organizing and efficiency expert Kristin MacRae of Organizing in RI says to keep it simple and easy, make a plan to organize what they have before you buy gifts for the holidays.
Here are 6 tips to get you started in the process.
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST- Get your kids involved. MacRae says let your kids help in this process. “I find that it’s much easier for kids to let go of things than it is for the parents,” she says.
- Take inventory. Focus on one room at a time, one category at a time.
- Declutter. If it’s broken or missing pieces, get rid of it.
- Organize. MacRae says talk to your kids about how they want to function and involve them in the organization process of creating systems. They are going to use it, so make sure they have a say in how they want to function.
- Organizing supplies. Make sure to measure the areas you have ahead of time and buy organizing supplies that work for you and your children.
- Maintain. MacRae says to put the responsibility on your children to put things back in place once they are finished using them.
