Rhode Island Historical Society Librarian Phoebe Bean joined GoLocal LIVE News Editor ahead of Thursday night’s “Relics, Rebels, and Rum” presentation at the Aldrich House in Providence. 

“Our watery connection to Narragansett Bay has put Rhode Island at the center of the action over the centuries,”  said the Rhode Island Historical Society. 

“Starting with the area's Native American politics, RIHS Librarian Phoebe Bean will present some of the amazing stories of the people, industries, and objects that record our early collective history,” the Society added.

Bean spoke to some of the items that the Historical Society will be showing Thursday evening — and 

The evening is a member event, but open to the public as well — Bean urged people who might be interested in attending to call the Historical to see about availability.

On Thursday, January 23, RIHS will host “Coming to RI: Stories of Creating Community” at Acoustic Java Cafe in Providence. 

Join the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities Council and the Rhode Island Historical Society for a special film screening of select footage from our archives. Both organizations hold impressive collections of stories of Rhode Islanders coming to the Ocean State and building community. This event will offer a unique window into these special collections.
