“I Don’t Think Trump Believes Wall Will Be Built” - RI Latino PAC’s Molina Flynn on LIVE
Friday, December 28, 2018
Immigration attorney and President of the Rhode Island Latino Political Action Committee Joseph Molina Flynn joined GoLocalProv News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE, where he spoke to the recent deaths of two migrant children in detention, prospects for comprehensive immigration legislation -- and a border wall being built -- and more.
"There have always been deaths in custody, but usually they’re not children. The most disheartening part is an 8-year-old passed away on Christmas Day," said Molina Flynn. "Where people are more concerned is this Administration has not demonstrated any willingness to soften immigration policies [as they] affect these children....children shouldn’t be in detention for prolonged periods of time."
Molina Flynn also addressed the issue of President Donald Trump's position on a border wall, as it pertains to the current federal government shutdown.

I think he wants it to be a talking point going into 2020. It benefits him to not have the funding so he can say I’m trying to get you this wall," said Molina Flynn.
"We’ve seen his position on the wall change several times — a fence, a wall, who’s paying for it — it’s been a boost to his campaign," said Molina Flynn. "I don’t think he believes the wall will be built. He just wants to continue talking about it."
