"American Pickers" Looking for Diverse Communities in New England to Feature on Upcoming Shows

The Providence Cultural Equity Initiative (PCEI) has announced that it is helping "American Pickers" on the History Channel in identifying and engaging with diverse communities throughout New England who are interested in being featured on upcoming episodes. 

"If you or someone you know are from the New England region and have a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the Pickers could spend the better part of a day looking through, and are interested in having your collection featured, you should consider sending your name, phone number, location and description of the collection with photos to [email protected] or facebook: @GotA or call 855-OLD-RUST," said PCEI, which promotes, cultivates and advocates for the cultural sector and economy of Rhode Island.

"When you reach out please let our friends at American Pickers know that you were referred by the Providence Cultural Equity Initiative," PCEI added.

American Pickers is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking."

"The hit show follows Mike and Frank, two of the most skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques. They are always excited to find sizeable, unique collections and learn the interesting stories behind them. As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics. Along the way, the Pickers want to meet characters with remarkable and exceptional items. The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way," writes the History Channel.

"Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and their team are excited to return to Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont! They plan to film episodes of the hit series American Pickers throughout the area in September.

We understand that with the proliferation of COVID-19, we are all facing very uncertain times. We at American Pickers are taking the pandemic very seriously and will be following all guidelines and protocols for safe filming as outlined by each state. While we plan to be in New England in September, we will continue to re-schedule if conditions change for the worse. Regardless, we are excited to continue to reach the many collectors in the area to discuss their years of picking!
