5 Weekend Musts: Easter Egg Hunts & More

Was that a fast-moving white rabbit passing you on the Newport Bridge just now? Here are the 5 things you don't want to miss (other than that bunny) this weekend.

Go Easter egg hunting in multiple spots

Saturday
Our favorites are an old-fashioned 12:15pm hunt and fun day at Brown House in Portsmouth , a snazzy hunt and brunch at Rosecliff in Newport at 10am, a heritage-style hunt at 10:30am at Casey Farm in Saunderstown for real, fresh Casey Farm eggs (plus visits with chickens, chicks, and piglets), and the first frolic on the gracious lawn of the Lippitt House Garden from 1-3 in Providence. If you move fast you might even be able to hit two or more of these. Godspeed.

Leave the kids at home and go ADULT Easter egg hunting

Friday
We're afraid to ask for the details, but the Shriners are in charge, so it's sure to be a good time. Hunting kicks off at 8pm sharp, and you're advised to search "at your own risk," and you've got to be 18+ to participate. Intrigued? We'll see you there. The Rhode Island Shriners, One Rhodes Place, Cranston, call 467-7102 for more information and reservations. Tickets $10.

Celebrate Passover with chef Walter Potenza

Friday
Who needs to cook when Walter Potenza is at the helm? Join in a three-course dinner featuring cuisine of Italian-Jewish heritage. The prix-fixe menu is $39.95 per person. For the menu and more, visit www.chefwalter.com and click on the PASSOVER button. Walter's Ristorante d'Italia, 286 Atwells Ave, Providence.

Take a trip back in time with legend Neil Young

Friday
If you haven't seen the legendary singer whose distinctive voice defined many of the best, and most hallucinogenic, moments of the 1970s, you need to see (and hear) him. One night only. 8pm, Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset St, Providence. For more information, click here

Okay, one more egg hunt

Sunday
This one is a destination event. For one, it's the first-ever egg hunt at the Inn at Castle Hill. Second, somewhere in that garden is a grand prize of an overnight at that breathtaking inn. Third, it's a fundraiser for Child & Family Services of Newport, and tickets are $25. 11am. Open to children 12 and up. Reservations required, 849-3800.
