Air Care Alliance to Hold National Conference in RI

After advocating for the Alliance to select Rhode Island for the conference, Angel Planes recognizes the opportunity to show representatives from all over the country the “hospitality, geographical amenities, and historical beauty” of Providence and Newport.
The Air Care Alliance is a league of humanitarian flying organizations from all over the country. The Association aims to serve communities through providing aviation resources including volunteer pilots, free medical transportation flights, and environmental support for airlines.
Flights of medical compassion
Operation Angel Planes of Rhode Island is a member of the Alliance and is dedicated to providing financial support for air transportation to medically and financially needy children and their families.
The Providence Chapter of Angel Planes had its first flight on April 1, 1991, with the help of Congressman James Langevin and John Carter. Angel Planes flew an 8-year old girl from Massachusetts to Nebraska to receive a new small intestine. Angel Planes, along with Langevin and Carter, raised over $12,000 for that flight, and since then the organization has grown to include flights for patients between more than 20 countries.
Langevin and Carter honored for "crucial roles"
Because of their crucial role in Angel Planes first flight, both Mr. Carter and Congressman Langevin will be awarded the esteemed Founders’ Award during the conference. The Founders’ Award, which has only been given one other time, will be presented this Saturday April, 16th at the Waterman Grille.
During other events of the conference, attendees will hear lectures on recent issues concerning public benefit flying, attend banquets, and spend a day touring Newport.
The conference will be held at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel April 15th-16th.
