Popular BBQ Food Truck Chef Moving On — and Hopes to Find Successor

The chef and proprietor of a popular BBQ food truck in Rhode Island is moving on after five years — and says he hopes someone might want to take it over.
Shane Caledonia with Bonetown BBQ said that while the business has been successful — even throughout the pandemic — he was offered a “dream job” in the culinary consulting world that was “too good” to pass up.
Now he’s looking to see many of his loyal followers — and maybe some new faces — in his last few appearances with the truck in Rhode Island; Caledonia noted that the separate Boston-based Bonetown Burgers truck will continue to operate moving forward.

Caledonia announced the following this week.
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce Bonetown BBQ will be closing in May.
This has been a difficult decision to make but I have an opportunity that will continue to allow me to work in the industry I love while spending some much-needed time with my family.
I have spent the last 30 years of my life dedicated to the culinary industry. It has been my passion and focus for as long as I can remember. At the age of 13 I started by washing dishes, peeling potatoes, and learning the trade. I have worked with some amazing chefs that have taught me so much and provided me with opportunities to grow in my career. I have cooked and managed kitchens in private restaurants, colleges and universities, and corporate dining accounts serving movie and TV stars, current and retired pro athletes, politicians and many more. This led me to owning Bonetown BBQ Food Truck and Restaurant for the last six years.
I would like to thank my wife and family for their support and love. My wife has been by my side since we were teenagers, and she has stood by me while I worked tirelessly to build a successful career. Being a chef and small business owner has not always been easy and has not allowed me the time I would like to spend with my family. It is time for me to refocus my life around my family.
I would like to thank you, the patrons of Bonetown BBQ for supporting me, my family, and employees. It has been a pleasure to serve the customers all over the state of Rhode Island. The relationships I have made and the amazing communities I have served will forever be the reasons I have enjoyed this business. I could not have done this without you.
You still have some opportunities to come out and see us, say goodbye, and enjoy the best BBQ in RI. We will be at Diamond Hill Park in Cumberland on April 28 at 5pm, Food Truck Friday at Roger Williams Park on April 29, and Food Trucks by the Sea in South Kingstown on May 5.
