One of the stars of Bravo’s “Real Estate Wars” is now an emerging force in the Newport real estate market.

Kylie McCollough, now with Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International, became a breakout star on the reality show  “Real Estate Wars” only to shock the audience by announcing she was leaving the real estate firm she helped to found and move back to her roots in the East Coast.

Now in Newport, McCollough joined GoLocal LIVE to discuss the difference between East and West Coasts as well as the potential of doing a high-profile show from Newport.

Bravo described her in the show’s profile as “a world traveler, real estate entrepreneur, mother, wife, and nationally ranked fitness competitor. A 'superwoman' in every sense of the word, she resides in the most coveted neighborhood in Orange County and lives the life of luxury. Kylie is a perfectionist when it comes to her life and also her career as a successful real estate agent.”

She said in Orange County people are looking for sleek, clean new construction. But, in Newport, “they appreciate the charm of a historic property and the stewardship that is involved with the care and maintenance and restoration for more of a project.”

Newport is a favorite location for reality shows and celebrities. Another Bravo show “Real Housewives of New York City” was shot in Newport just before the pandemic and featured the Inn at Castle Hill.

For McCollough, she appreciates the East Coast lifestyle. Her husband is in the yachting industry and they recently spent months at the America’s Cup in New Zealand.

A Newport Reality Show?

McCollough said that she has had discussions with producers about a Rhode Island-based home reality show. “HGTV. there's definitely a lot of interest in the gilded age mansions,” said McCollough.
