Rhode Island Developer Richard Baccari Dies UPDATED

One of Rhode Island’s top real estate developers, Richard Baccari, has died.

Baccari was considered one of the most accomplished and innovative real estate developers in New England.

He was the chairman of the real estate development firm Churchill & Banks.

"On behalf of the entire Baccari family, we are saddened to announce the death of Richard P. Baccari at the age of 82. Said simply, he was a great man, husband and father.  We wish to express our sincere gratitude to friends and family near and far who have shared their condolences and fond memories of my dad," said Richard Baccari II.

“His leadership and vision has guided the firm’s success through four decades. During that span, he has been the driving and innovative force behind some of the region’s most significant residential and commercial development endeavors. Richard is a respected member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is also active in numerous other professional, civic and charitable organizations," stated his bio.

His development work included many of the region's Stop & Shop locations, Kettle Point in East Providence, and the Coro Center in Providence.
