The LOOK: Try A Glaze For Summer Glamour

With mid-summer hazy days at hand, it's time to make your way to your local salon and ask for a glaze to keep your color and natural shine where it belongs: on your head, not down the drain! If your hair just isn't shining as much, your color is fading way too fast, and it is dry to the touch, a glaze is just what you need. Here are my tips for happy glazing:
First thing's first
There are many glazing techniques on the market; my most reliable suggestion is that you discuss them with your stylist. This way you can create the right glaze for you. Usually a translucent color glaze will compliment your hair color best.

A clear glaze will shine up your hair by closing down your cuticle and reflecting light. This method lasts about 4-6 weeks, so when you're ready for a touch-up of your perm, color, or trim, you can refresh your glaze without having to make an extra trip to the salon.

There are also shampoos and conditioners that help your glaze keep its shine. My favorites are Renne Furter Florvaranti shampoo and conditioner (found at most salons and beauty boutiques) and Rita Hazan (found at your local Sephora), which comes comes in a glazing foam for at-home application once a week. Leave in for 5 minutes, rinse, follow up with a conditioner, and viola, shine for days!
