This weekend's wedding between Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney was the most high profile Newport wedding since 1953 when Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy wed.

"The most famous of initials, Jackie O. and J.F.K., married in Newport, Rhode Island, in front of 800 people. Four-hundred more of their closest friends and family joined for the reception, where the new Mrs. Kennedy, in a gown by Ann Lowe, and the future president shared their first dance," wrote Allure Magazine.

Other celebrity weddings in Newport have included NBA star Harrison Barnes who attracted Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving, but nothing like the lineup of celebrities the Lawrence-Maroney wedding attracted.

Venue: Belcourt of Newport

Over the past five-years, Carolyn Rafaelian has spent millions restoring the estate which she purchased in 2012 for $3.2 million.

As GoLocal reported, “The sale by the Tinney Family to the founder of Alex and Ani is the most recent in a series of acquisitions and expansions tied to the Rhode Island-based jewelry company."

"Rafaelian will give new life to the home and provide direction in the upcoming years while overseeing the complete remaking of such an architectural gem Richard Morris Hunt so graciously created for Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont in 1894," a press release said.

"I have a love affair with Newport. I've fallen completely in love with Belcourt," Rafaelian said. "I am fascinated by its rich history and roots and it's a true honor to have the blessing from Mrs. Tinney to continue the legacy. I look forward to restoring it to its natural beauty."

Rehearsal Dinner: Rose Island

The rehearsal dinner was a clambake on Rose Island under a massive tent — one large enough to sit more than 100.

"Rose Island is about 18 acres in size. It consists of a wildlife refuge, the lighthouse, and the Fort Hamilton Barracks. Between March 1 and August 15 public access around the perimeter of Rose Island is restricted for nesting birds.  In the winter, from late October to early April, you can often see harbor seals resting on Citing Rock on the east side of Rose Island, which is surrounded by extensive underwater eel grass beds," says the Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation.

By the way, you can book a room and stay over at the lighthouse.  Book here.
