Yanks/Rangers Game 6 Preview

Friday, October 22, 2010

Even a diehard Red Sox fan would have to admit that a Yankee victory tonight in game 6 on the American League Championship Series wouldn’t be such a bad thing? Why, you ask? Because it would set up a winner take all game 7 tomorrow night featuring baseball’s most feared post season pitcher Cliff Lee for Texas facing baseball’s all-time playoff wins leader Andy Pettitte for New York.

First things first, though. Tonight at the Ballpark at Arlington, Colby Lewis and the Rangers will host phil Hughes and the Yankees with Texas holding a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Most will say that the pressure is on the Yankees who have no margin for error. One more loss, and their season is over with.

But consider what the Texas Rangers are dealing with. They are trying to take baseball’s 200 million dollar men and a franchise that has won a record 27 world championships.

Lewis and the Rangers got the best of Hughes and the Yankees in game 2 of this series in Texas. A Rangers win tonight would line-up ace Cliff Lee for a game 1 start in the World Series. A loss and Lee will take his perfect post season record to the mound in a seventh and deciding game tomorrow night.

Let the game begin.
