Tuesday, October 08, 2013
The first shot has been fired, and for the URI Rams' basketball team...maybe there's room for that chip to grow into a boulder on the shoulder.
At the Atlantic-10 men's basketball media day in Brooklyn, NY Tuesday, Rhode Island was selected to finish 9th out of the league's 13 teams in the annual pre-season poll. Additionally, the A-10's leading returning scorer, URI's Xavier Munford, was chosen for the league's pre-season 2nd team in voting conducted by media members and the conference head coaches.
Virginia Commonwealth, runner-up in 2012, was the pre-season pick to win the conference. Saint Louis, the defending champion, was chosen #2. LaSalle and UMass were selected for 3rd and 4th, respectively.
