Jared Terrell

The URI Rams (14-12, 6-7 A10) fell 83-67 to (19-7, 11-2 A10) VCU on Tuesday night in Richmond, Virginia. URI has now lost two straight games and falls under .500 in conference for the second time this season.

Hassan Martin got himself a dunk with 4:32 to play in the first half to bring URI within three, 24-21, and an exclamation point on a small 6-2 URI run.

However, VCU would answer back, ending the half on a 13-2 run to take a 37-23 half time lead. 

In the second half, URI would trail by as much as 22 points, 57-35, with 11:46 to play in the game before getting as close as 8, 68-60, with 4:29 to play after a Jared Terrell three. 

The Rams would get no closer as VCU would ice the game by going on a 9-2 run to go up 77-62 with 1:53 to play. 

The Leaders 

The Rams were led by Jared Terrell who poured in 22 points on 8 of 19 shooting from the field while also grabbing 4 rebounds. 

Hassan Martin followed up with 19 points and 7 rebounds. 

Next up 

URI returns to action on Saturday, February 20 when they host Duquesne. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.

Four McGlynn

Four McGlynn has been hot for the Rams in the last two games, posting 25 and 19 points respectively. 

However, in this game he only took 2 shots and had no points in 35 minutes of action.

Free Throws

The Rams went 13 of 20 from the free throw line but shot only one free throw in the first half. 

To be fair, VCU shot only 4 free throws in the first half but for URI as the visiting team, you would like to see them a little more aggressive, forcing the refs to blow the whistle.

Jared Terrell

Jared Terrell led URI with 22 points on 8 of 19 shooting from the field and 5 of 7 from the free throw line. 

Terrell has reached double figures in 8 straight games and has had at least 20 points in 5 of those games. 

Terrell also grabbed 4 rebounds against VCU.

Turnovers

The Rams were never really able to get settled early on in the game in a tough environment. 

URI turned the ball over 16 times, 10 of which came in the first half. 

Off of the 16 turnovers, VCU ended up with 22 points. 

The Rams forced VCU into 8 turnovers, but only scored 8 points.
