URI Moves Start Time Back. Brown, Bryant, PC Alter Schedules

Friday, February 08, 2013

With a powerful winter storm bearing down on the state of Rhode Island, many local sports teams have had to change the dates and times of their scheduled games.  However, not all have done so to this point.  Here's a look at some of this weekend's schedule:

University of Rhode Island:

The start time for tomorrow's Rhode Island/St. Bonaventure men's basketball game has been changed to 7 p.m. in order to allow for storm crews to clean up the roadways from the blizzard.

The Ryan Center box office will re-open tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

Here is the the ticket exchange policy for tomorrow's game:

Tickets (un-stubbed/non scanned) can be exchanged for another men's basketball home game during the 2012-13 season.
The Ryan Center box office will begin processing the exchanges on Monday, Feb. 11.
If the game is played (as scheduled) fans should use discretion if they decide to travel to the Ryan Center.
Due to the campus-wide parking ban, students have been instructed to park in the Plains Road lots. Please factor that into your plans if you intend on coming to the game.

Per the 2012-13 A-10 Basketball Operations manual, if both teams and officials can get to the site, the game shall be played. St. Bonaventure arrived in R.I. on Thursday afternoon.

RI Athletics has been closely monitoring weather forecasts and has been in contact with officials from St. Bonaventure and the Atlantic 10 Conference. Arrangements - and weather-related contingencies - were made with game officials.

If there are any additional updates or changes, please stay tuned to GoRhody.com.

Providence College:

The Providence College women's basketball game scheduled for Saturday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. vs. South Florida has been moved. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, allowing for clean-up of the roadways from the impending storm. Any additional updates regarding the game, or potential changes, will be posted on Friars.com.

The Providence College men's hockey game scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8 versus No. 4/5 New Hampshire has been postponed due to the impending snow storm. The game is now scheduled to take place at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Tickets for the game on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 will be honored for the rescheduled game on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Please contact the Ticket office at 401-865-4672 or through email: [email protected] with questions or concerns.

The Friars and Wildcats are still scheduled to meet at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 in a game that will be televised live on CBS Sports Network from New Hampshire's Whittemore Center. The second-place Wildcats (16-7-2, 11-6-1 HEA) and fifth-place Friars (10-10-5, 8-6-4 HEA) enter Sunday's game with 23 and 20 points, respectively, in the Hockey East standings.

Comments:

The A-10 obviously doesn't care about fans.
This ruling is asinine, and illogical.
What would have been the big deal with changing the game to Sunday?
Just ridiculous.

Rod:

I agree. However, they did just move the start time back to 8pm Saturday night. The change is reflected above.
