Alex Jette looks to lead Brown over Harvard

The Brown Bears are home to host Yale, Bryant plays their final home game of the season and the URI Rams are off this week.

URI's week off comes a week after they suffered their worst loss in program history, losing 84-7 to James Madison. In the game, the Rams turned the ball over six times and had a total of 12 passing yards. The loss has brought into question the future of the program, a program that only has one winning coach in its history, and that was in 1912.

URI will visit Elon on November 12, their second to last game of the season.

Overall, it has been a rough year for college football in the state. All three teams have a combined record of 6-18 on the season.

Here is this weeks Rhode Island College football preview:

Yale at Brown at Brown Stadium, 12:30 p.m.

The Brown Bears enter Saturday’s contest with a 2-5 overall record and a 1-3 record in the Ivy League following last week's loss to Penn.

On offense, the Bears are led by wide receiver Alex Jette, who ranks tenth in Brown career receptions with 136, and ninth in Brown career receiving yards with 1,783.

Brown has used two quarterbacks this season, quarterback Thomas Linta has completed 64 of 123 passes on the season, but he has thrown six interceptions compared to only three touchdowns.

Senior Kyle Moreno opened the season, but has seen Linta get extended play time over the last couple of weeks. Moreno has thrown eight touchdown passes compared to five interceptions on the season, while passing for 746 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Brown will look to senior linebacker Will Twyman to lead the way. Twyman currently ranks 15th in the country with 10.1 tackles per game.

Defensively, the Bears have had trouble stopping the opposing teams passing attack, giving up 203 passing yards per game.

Yale

The Bulldogs comes in with a record of 2-5 overall and 2-2 in the Ivy League play.

Most recently, they are coming off a 31-23 win over Columbia last week. In the second quarter of the game, Yale put in freshman quarterback Kurt Rawlings, who threw for three touchdowns and 152 yards. He also rushed for another 46 yards.

During the game, Brown will honor all who have served in the military and first responders with Salute to Service Day.

Robert Morris at Bryant, Bryant Stadium, 12 p.m.

Keenan Thompson looks for a repeat performances

Bryant and Robert Morris will be meeting for the ninth time in program history with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series 6-2. However, Robert Morris has won two of the last three games.

Bryant comes in with a record of 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the NEC after losing a heartbreaker to Duquesne last week. In the game, the Bulldogs had a 24-7 lead in the second quarter.

This has been an issue for the Bulldogs. They have not had a problem putting up points, but they have had a major issue holding on to big leads. Including the Duquesne game, Bryant has lost three games in which they led by at least three scores.

To turn it around, the Bulldogs will look to quarterback Dalton Easton, who needs 351 passing yards to tie Charlie Granatell’s program record of 6,984. Easton broke Granatell’s touchdown record two weeks ago and has thrown for 6,633 yards in 30 games.

Last week senior wide receiver Keenan Thompson set the single game record for touchdown receptions with four, and now leads the Bulldogs with seven on the season.

His seven touchdown catches are the most by a receiver since Jordan Harris hauled in a program record 15 in 2012.

On the defensive side of the ball, freshman linebacker Jesse Nemerowicz has set a Bryant freshman record for the most tackles in a single season by a rookie with 65. He is averaging 8.1 tackles per game, ranking him fifth in the NEC.

Robert Morris

The Colonials come in with a 2-7 overall record and a 1-3 record in the NEC, only averaging 156 yards per game on offense.

Robert Morris’ Dante Thatcher comes in as one of the best return men in the country, averaging 40 yards per return.
