The Boston Red Sox used their 4th round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft to select Bryant University pitcher Kevin McAvoy.
A junior from Syracuse, New York, McAvoy started 15 games this season for the Bulldogs, posting a 9-1 record and a 2.62 ERA.
The right-handed McAvoy posted career-highs in innings (99 and 2/3) and strikeouts (94) this season, helping Bryant win the Northeast Conference Championship and earn a trip to the College World Series. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings in the NCAA Tournament opener against Houston, allowing just 2 unearned runs in a strong performance.
