Ricky Ledo

Providence native and former PC Friar Ricky Ledo has signed a ten day contract with the New York Knicks and practiced with the team on Thursday morning. Ledo was cut by the Dallas Mavericks about a month ago in order for the Mavs to clear space for Amar'e Stoudemire.

Ledo as a Pro

To this point, Ricky Ledo has spent the majority of his NBA career playing in the NBA D-League with the Texas Legends. While with the Legends, Ledo averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from the field.

Ledo has only played 16 games in the NBA and in those games has averaged 1.8 points in a little less than three minutes of play time per game.

The Dallas Mavericks drafted Ledo 43rd overall in the 2013 draft after he spent one season at Providence College in which he did not play.

Now with the Knicks, it is likely that Ledo will see some real playing time given that the oganization is in a rebuilding phase.

Upon committing to PC, Ledo was ruled only partially eligible by the NCAA, meaning he could only practice but not play with the team.

This came after Ledo attended four different high schools in five years.

New York Knicks

The Knicks are coached by former LA Laker Derek Fisher and are coming off a 95-92 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night. New York is 14-54 on the season and return to action on Friday, March 20 when they take on the Philadelphia 76ers.
